What you may do if your home or office is flooded. 1. Be very careful with electricity in a flooded area.
Carefully turn off breakers serving the flooded areas,
especially if wiring &/or light fixtures are wet. 2. Watch for sagging, water filled ceilings. They can collapse & cause serious injury.
3. Be careful walking, especially on hard surfaces which are probably very slippery.
4. Remove all furniture & personal belongings from the
affected rooms. Although the carpet surface may appear to be dry the furniture may be sitting on water soaked padding. 5. Check for water in rooms adjacent to the source. Water easily runs under walls and through floors and ceilings.
6. Turn heat to 75 degrees & crack your windows.
7. Do not try to remove water damaged carpet yourself. It is very heavy & improper removal can damage it further.
8. Do call Colonial Restoration Services at (609) 465-1579 or any Certified Water Damage Restoration firm in your area, for site inspection and an immedite mitigation of your loss.
Description of mitigation and remediation process. WHAT COLONIAL RESTORATION SERVICES CAN DO FOR YOU IN THE EVENT OF A WATER DAMAGE LOSS.
In most cases, we will remove water soaked padding as it is impractical to restore. We will carefully disengage carpets and extract water from the subfloor during this phase.
If the source of flooding was from overhead, ceiling and wall cavities may be dried without disturbing the drywall. However, in some cases of saturation and/or inexcessibility, or when standing water has wicked up the drywall more than a few inches, the drywall may have to be removed and replaced.
With the customer's approval we will professionally reinstall carpets and padding, reinstall baseboards, insulation, drywall, and provide experienced professional painters as required.
Speciality Drying for particular problems that can arise with some types of hardwood floors is also available.
