What you may do if your home or office is flooded.

    1. Be very careful with electricity in a flooded area.

Carefully turn off breakers serving the flooded areas,

especially if wiring &/or light fixtures are wet.

    2. Watch for sagging, water filled ceilings. They    can collapse & cause serious injury.

  •

  • 3. Be careful walking, especially on hard surfaces which are probably very slippery.

    4. Remove all furniture & personal belongings from the

affected rooms. Although the carpet surface may appear  to be dry the furniture may be sitting on water soaked padding.

  •

    5. Check for water in rooms adjacent to the source. Water easily runs under walls and through floors and ceilings.

    6. Turn heat to 75 degrees & crack your windows.

    7. Do not try to remove water damaged carpet yourself. It is very heavy & improper removal can damage it further.

    8. Do call Colonial Restoration Services at (609) 465-1579 or any Certified Water Damage Restoration firm in your area, for site inspection and an immedite mitigation of your loss.

WHAT COLONIAL RESTORATION SERVICES CAN DO FOR YOU IN THE EVENT OF A WATER DAMAGE LOSS.

    • We will make every effort to respond as quikly as possible.

    • We will employ principles of safety and carefully inspect the affected structure with surface and penetrating hygrometers.

    • We will calculate temperture and humidity levels inside and outside the structure to determine the proper course of  action.

    • We will classify the loss, and explain to the customer the conditions of the contents and structure in question, and what is necessary to mitigate the loss in accordance with industry standards.

    • With the customers approval, we will begin the mitigation process. Move furnishings as needed and use powerful truck mounted extraction units to remove any standing water.

    •  In most cases, we will remove water soaked padding as it is impractical to restore. We will carefully disengage carpets and extract water from the subfloor during this phase.

      • Large Turbo-Dryers may be used to lift moisture from carpeting , flooring, walls and other permeable surfaces.

      • Large Capacity Commercial Dehumidiefiers may be used to remove the moisture introduced to the air by air movers.
      •
      • Some circumstances may require an air filteration system to improve air quality and remove odors.

    •

      • In some circumstances baseboards  and/or kickplates may need to be removed, drywall cut and inject-dry units used to introduce air into the sill plates and wall cavities.

      • If the source of flooding was from overhead, ceiling and wall cavities may be dried without disturbing the drywall. However, in some cases of saturation and/or inexcessibility, or when standing water has wicked up the drywall more than a few inches, the drywall may have to be removed and replaced.

      • The structural drying process is required to be monitored approximately every 24 hours, wherein readings will be taken and adjustments made to the positioning of equipment. Drying time varies with the size of the area and conditions but is ussually on average apx. 72 hours

      • We will do a final inspection to assure that all affected surfaces registered on hygrometers are as dry as the control surfaces.

      • With the customer's approval we will use deodrizers and /or sanitatization sprays or foggers to help limit the prospect of biological growth and/or odors. In some cases sealers may be required.

      •  If carpeting is not replaced, we will clean and deodorize the carpeting and encapsulate the yarns with a protectorant spray.

      • With the customer's approval we will professionally reinstall carpets and padding, reinstall baseboards, insulation, drywall, and provide experienced professional painters as required.

      • Upon completion the job site will be left neat and clean.

Speciality Drying for particular problems that can arise with some types of hardwood floors is also available.
